Lunch tip: Café de Paris

Place du Casino, Monte-Carlo 98000, Monaco

Perhaps a bit cliche? I think not. Right in the heart of Monte-Carlo, next to the casino is a brassiere that is full of life. It has a great balance of locals and tourists and really seems to be the buzzing place during lunch time. There is an enchanting atmosphere, it is a combination of an old Parisian bistro mixed with the prestige of Monaco where you can just sit and watch wealth pass by. My friend and I were seated right in the middle of the hassle outside on the lovely large terrace. To our left a chic mother and charming son sat for some salads and to our right an elderly man ate a large bowl of pasta while smoking a cigar simultaneously.  There were well dressed young adults in designer clothing seated under the shades with refreshing cocktails in their hands. It was incredibly warm, so naturally we also began with a bottle of rosé. For lunch I enjoyed a grilled sole with a gentle butter and lemon sauce, it was simply perfect for a hot day. I love the subtle flavour of the fish and eating the meat right off the bone is the best part! For dessert we enjoyed a strong espresso, some fresh strawberries and cherries with a small bottle of Ruinart. If you are in Monaco for the day, I would suggest lunch at Café de Paris to experience what the place is all about. In the bottom picture, on the left side you can see the bistro crowded with people in the far distance.
