Authentic charm

Just a boat ride away from the picture perfect Oia, is a rustic fishing village full of authentic charm. Thirasia itself does not have many habitants and far different from glamorous Santorini. The small quaint village calls for a swim in the clear waters and a walk up the 300 stairs to the top of the village, to see the realness of rural Greek life. Up there, the feeling is quiet, religious and somewhat harsh to see the minimalistic conditions that locals live in. Oia and Thirasia are total opposites, but a humbling experience to see both.

Back down by the bay, the food is delicious and the fish is as fresh as it gets as it is caught early morning that day. We went to the same family run restaurant (Taverna Kamara) a couple of times as we fell in love with their cooking and hospitality. The father himself had gone fishing for fresh mackerel for us as we told them we are coming the following day. We watched him prepare our food and the experience was truly memorable. I loved the char grilled calamari that was stored fresh in the waters roped to the restaurant. I highly recommend the fresh catch of the day and a delicious rich feta salad for a side dish. You sit right on the edge of the sea overlooking the clear waters and see the cute fishing boats dancing to the waves.

A fashion & interior lover who enjoys cooking and traveling. I have a nordic way of thinking, where I believe in the beauty of simplicity.
