All about cake.

I thought I would give a little update on our wedding plans as the process has slowly starting rolling. The invitation design is finally complete and they have been now sent to press, which means I should have them in my hands very soon. I’ve very excited to see the outcome! Mr. N and I are going to see the venue next week with our wedding planner as it is on an island and the location has just about setup and opened for the summer season. Once I’ve seen it in real life, I can begin to visualize the decor more in detail, although I have a vision in my head already. It is all about flowers and lanterns. The overall theme will be seaside, quite natural and Scandinavian with hints of bohemian and mediterranean chicness. My wedding dress is currently being made in Australia, the handmade lace finally arrived from France and the dress should be arriving in the beginning on July. The menu has also been decided upon and now we have moved on to the wedding cake. First of all it took a while to find a bakery that I was happy with and finally I found Aan Tafel that does private catering and dining. I have every faith with this company, I can see that our visions click and the style is exactly what I like.

However, I have not decided on the final style of the cake, whether it will be one large one, a cake table or a few larger ones.  I am either between two types; 1 large all white cake that has a beautiful texture or tired cakes that are covered in cheese cream so it also has a lovely white surface. The decoration is very important as well, it needs to be simple and elegant, not over the top or cliché by any means. I love either baby’s breath, olive branches, simple blooms or berries and figs.  Moreover, sometimes the cakes looks elegant with no decoration at all if it has a beautiful surface and shape to it. We haven’t even started thinking about the flavour possibilities but for sure looking forward to the tasting process… something fresh and non-traditional perhaps!  I thought I would share some inspiration on the cakes that I found from pinterest.
