There is pure pleasure while cooking this treat as the entire house lingers of sweet spices. The grated nutmeg and cinnamon give the apples that lovely comforting taste while the texture is gooey and soft, served with a scoop of frozen yogurt and fresh blueberries. This dish is really easy to make and the apples also work well on top of some breakfast porridge or with granola and yogurt. I would say they would be quite divine on a cheese platter as well. I just love the way these apples look when just halved as they are tiny in size. As these apples are picked fresh from the tree, I made sure to leave the skin on as it gives additional flavour and a robust feeling to the dish. Only a couple more weeks to our wedding, so it is time to enjoy every moment of this, de-stress and indulge in quick no-fuss recipes like this. Now for a bit of espresso and let the weekend begin ♥
Ingredients (I’ve used no measurements here, just go with your gut)
Directions
Preheat oven to 175 C. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, ground nutmeg and vanilla sugar. Slice the small apples in half and roll them around the mixture so they get coated with the spices. Pour everything onto a greased oven dish. Add dollops of butter on top of each apple. Place about 30 minutes, then pour water over apples and continue baking another 15 minutes so they become soft and tender. Serve with frozen yogurt & blueberries.
Sounds lovely! Great post 🙂
