avocado-breakfast-1-of-1

With the tassels running down my back and my hair in a tight bun, an avocado yogurt is placed in front of me as we enjoy the first days of our honeymoon that began in a hillside medieval town in Tuscany called Montecatini Alto. We sit 290 meters above sea level, overlooking quite the views. Birthplace of spas, Montecatini is known for its thermal waters that in the Romanesque times believed to have healing characteristics and today this ideology is restored around a spa just down the hill called Montecatini Terme, where you can taste the various spring waters.  Just like in old western movies, you can reach Motencatini Alto with an old Victorian cable train that brings you to the top of the hill into a little Guisti piazza that is filled with cute architecture, splendid views and great restaurants. We stayed here for a few days exploring the winding streets and used it as a base to travel to Florence as well. We enjoy traditional Tuscan cuisine and often nibbled on caramelized croissants, dry cheese and a glass of full-bodied Chianti. What a cute way to start our honeymoon…
