Bored of your everyday salad?
Trying new salad combinations is so exciting when you find ingredients that work so well together! Wakame is something I could eat forever, which is great as it is low in calorie and high in nutritional values and actually helps to burn fat. I love the slippery consistency and the emerald-green colour and the fact that each serving is only about 5 calories!! This brown seaweed is high in minerals and vitamins and I’ve tried making it a staple ingredient in my diet. I love it cold or warm!
The latest salad I made was wakame with buckwheat a protein-rich seed that is a perfect substitute for rice. I love its nutty intense flavour, simply boiled in water with a pinch of salt. The combination of buckwheat and wakame is more filling and comforting and together they merge perfectly. I’ve also added a mixture of beans, pickled onions, purple cabbage and some dill gravlax. It really needed no dressing just a sprinkle of sesame oil, black pepper and this green spice mixture (that contains thyme, oregano, dill) that we bought back from Greece. This salad is a November favourite at the moment…
