Green Juices & Vintage Roses

I couldn’t resist starting the day by taking pictures of this amazing bouquet my husband surprised me with yesterday. They are huge, I have trouble holding them together with both hands and the giant roses smell incredibly aromatic with the eucalyptus. They’ve managed to fill three vases in the house and now I have blooms scattered literally in every room. He certainly knows that flowers are a way to my heart.

I feel that the dark weather has taken a toll on my body, so I wanted to boost my energy and start the day with a cleansing green juice that is packed with vitamins. As I have mentioned before, drinking green juices can be the best thing you can do to your body as the green leaves are optimal for regenerating, purifying and healing your body. I love how the nutrition is instantly absorbed through liquid form giving your mind and body a blast of powerful goodness. Without going too much into detail, green juices are amazing for healthy glowing skin (vitamin C & E), improved energy, weight loss and have high levels of amino acids/ antioxidants that benefit in numerous ways. Everything is connected to each other; they help the skin/organs (liver) to remove toxins, improves immune system, helps sleep better, aid in cell growth (vitamin A) and give your body a real healthy boost. The key is to drink all kinds of dark leafy greens and vegetables in raw form and avoid adding too many fruit into the juice to avoid sugar. Find the recipe below for a detox juice, that I started the day with today! For a more filling format, add banana, avocado and oat milk for a creamy effect.

Green Cleanse & Detox juice (blend all ingredients until smooth)

  • 1 inch ginger root
  • celery stalk
  • handful spinach
  • handful of kale or parsley
  • 1 juice of lemon
  • A few large pieces of fresh pineapple
  • about 1 cup cold Water

Rejuvenating Smoothie Cup

A day started with this rejuvenating smoothie cup will surely leave you energized all morning. There’s a certain sense of accomplishment that comes with working out and getting in a few servings of greens before 10am. Leafy greens like kale, parsley and spinach, sprouts are detoxifying agents that helps break down toxins, while avocado is packed with healthy fats and flax seeds have lots of fiber. Ginger and lemon always do their magic, so I will not even preach about them. This nutritional punch gets your body/ digestion going in the morning and because it has less sugar than with a fruit loaded smoothie, it keeps your blood sugar more stable without rising and falling drastically.  Have a wonderful saturday darlings!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons flax seeds
  • 1 avocado
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cups spinach
  • 1/2 cup sprouts
  • 1/2 cup parsley
  • 1 cup kale
  • About 1 cup water or cashew milk (depending on the consistency you prefer)
  •  1/2 juice of lemon
  • chunk of ginger

Garnish: parsley, chia seeds, coconut flakes

Place everything into a blender and blitz until smooth, drink immediately.

“One green juice a day, keeps the doctor away”. Green smoothies have numerous health benefits that leave you feeling good from the inside and out. I mainly use spinach, celery, kale, mint, parsley, collard green, beet greens, watercress or paksoi but any leafy green will do. The darker the green, the better it is. Bananas, apples, ginger, lemon, avocado or mango are a great companion for these juices for flavour or consistency. I commonly make water based juices, but sometimes if you feel like having a thicker more filling smoothie, add some quark or oat milk to it. Despite the fact that if you eat many greens in other forms than smoothies, drinking the greens in a blended form gives you the maximum nutritional benefit as the cell walls of greens must be broken down to almost liquid form. So, making your blender your best friend is the way to go!

Mind you, I’m generally a really healthy person, but these cleansing green smoothies yield great results keeping your body well. They help keep my skin and body hydrated and nourished, giving me more energy and provide me easily those daily greens.   • 1 cup spinach
  •  chunk ginger

This juice shot is made for autumn days to keep your immune system well, help digestion and boost your body with simple cleansing nutrients. This shot helps even out energy levels with it’s Vitamins A, B and C, helps cleanse the liver and removes mucus from the body making it a great shot if you have the flu. I use a good chunk of ginger for that heat and seasonal autumn apples that compensate the lemons acidity with their lovely sweetness.

  • Fresh Ginger (about 2cm long)
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 apples
  • About 1dl cold water

Blend everything into a smooth consistency and drink immediately. This will make you a couple of shots

Grapefruit Lemon Ginger Shot

Just another healthy juice shot to start the morning right…

Grapefruits are so juicy this time of year that gives a tangy yet underlining sweetness to my regular lemon ginger shots. It adds a lot of flavour and adds a real boost to the immune system from all its vitamin C. Not only is the pale pink juice tasty and pretty to look at, but it also works as a detoxing agent as the enzymes in grapefruit helps your body utilize sugar that boosts your metabolism.

What you need?

  • 2 large grapefruit
  • 2 large lemons
  • A good chunk of ginger

Blend all ingredients together and drink immediately as a refreshing shot

Sunday vitamins in a glass…

Packed full of vitamins C & A, this juice has everything your healthy body needs to bypass this spring season! This time I did not add garlic, but if you are feeling a bit fluish, do not skip it as it is most effective!

The naturally sweet carrots add a bit of sugar to the juice but despite that it balances the flavours with the acidity making it easy on the palate. Carrots not only are full with antioxidants but contain vitamin A and carotene great for the immune system. Ginger, lime and lemon are a staple in my morning rituals, both super anti-inflammatory properties loaded with vitamin c that help boost your body’s pH levels. What a great way to start a sunday morning? I love juice shots, they just do wonders for the body, internally and externally. I love how it hydrates and shows positively on my skin!

ingredients

  • 4 large carrots
  •  Ginger for desired potency (I used about a large thumb size piece)
  • 2 peeled lemons
  • 1 peeled lime
  • 3 cloves garlic (optional, fabulous for an immune booster)

Blend all ingredients together and divide into little glasses, drink immediately as a shot. Adding the garlic is a great immune booster because of its antiseptic and nutritive properties. The garlic taste is shadowed by the hot ginger and sweet carrots, leaving it a mild taste to the background. It really is a key ingredient if you feel a flu coming on.

 

Detoxing Blueberry Lemon Sparkling Water

Hydration is key.

The 1st of May festivities were so much fun, the weather was so sunny, we brunched, laughed and danced all night long till early hours! Now I’ve decided to do a 21 day detox avoiding sugar, alcohol focusing mainly on protein and vegetables to get in summer shape.. well more like wedding shape!  I’m trying at avoid carbs and dairy as well, but this fluctuates depending on my schedule and on the amount of sports I do. I generally have rye bread in the morning and avoid carbs late in the evening. Anyways, infused waters/ sparkling waters are a great additive for the day, at the moment my favourite is a blend of blueberry, mint and lemon. Let this be a healthy kick-start to May! Ginger Honey Lemon Juice

December 7th- Monday booster

After a festive weekend, this vitamin boosting detox juice is the best way to start a monday morning. It contains 1 1/2 juice of lemon, 2 tablespoons of grated ginger, 2 teaspoons organic honey and a cup of cold water. You can blend the sweetness with the amount of honey and the juice is great either warm or cold. I topped it off with fresh mint leaves. It makes a great comforting evening tea by the fireplace
