‘ Getting into the Christmas spirit as December is soon here’
I haven’t done an inspiration board in quite a while, even though I occasionally scan and pin through pinterest. If you wish to follow all my boards, you can find my pinterest link from here. All of a sudden Christmas is only a stone throw away, so I wanted to create some inspiration through a moody Christmas board. Many of the photographs I am drawn to are more about feeling and less about over consumed material. There is a very Scandinavian feeling to it all; snow filled forests and gorgeous rather simple decorations and delicious food. We don’t have any snow in Helsinki at the moment, so lets hope we will get white coat on the ground as soon as possible.

Despite having traveled copious amounts of times to Italy, Venice is one place I have never been to. The reason behind that has been solely because my hubby and I have always debated whether it has been tainted by tourism, where the quality of restaurants, service and authenticity suffers. I’ve heard you can easy get ripped off in prices if you are not careful (aka 50 euros for a juice & coffee), so I’m going there with a cautious frame of mind. On the contrary, I already know it will be a visual dream and it will be a beauty to explore. I imagine it is at its most beautiful when the tourists are not roaming around the covered streets and piazzas so the feeling is more peaceful. Hence, my hubby and I usually travel to smaller destinations to capture the purity of the place that is easily lost in such hub destinations, like with Santorini unfortunately. Anyhow, I’m intrigued by the thought of Venice, the maze like canals, the hometown to carppaccio, picturesque buildings and cozy cafes. I have a feeling I will not be able to put my camera down! My friend and I will fly there tomorrow for a week and we have quite a laid back itinerary on terms of what we want to see. They promised rain for the beginning of the week, so I think a stroll through the Guggenheim is in order while the sunnier days are dedicated to island hoping and seafood rosé lunches in the sun and leisurely strolling through the streets of Venice. I can’t wait to capture Venice in the soft misty morning light and equally gaze into the golden sunsets along the canal.

‘It’s 4.40 am and I’m about to call a cab and head to the airport as today we are off to Paris! ‘
This annual girly trip will be all about relaxing under the Parisian sky, enjoy long lunches in the most beautiful places, walk through the idyllic white streets, exploring galleries and seeking for the best roof top views of the beautiful houses. Paris is such an elegant city, I have all my pleaded skirts, ruffle shirts and heels ready to walk these streets. I’m already dreaming of the pastel coloured macarons, drinking café au lait all day with flakey croissants, walking through the blush coloured flower markets and sipping on rosé over delicious seafood under the spring sunshine. Tomorrow I’ll be waking up in hotel Montaigne and going to dress into my crispy robe, order a cappuccino into the room and open up the windows to my favourite avenue Montaigne. See you in a week!

My mind has already transferred to spring mode, I’m ready to leave the chunky parkas behind with these dark days and bring out soft pastel tones and warm sun rays. I’m craving for healthy colourful foods, blush blooms and interior with hints of Moroccan pattern. I’m longing for early mornings with sunlight to read the morning paper on the balcony in soft linen boyfriend shirts surrounded with newly planted flowers. I’m craving for an endless supply of fresh Provence herbs, the sound of the seagulls and days to walk in ballerinas on dry streets.
