Spring Vibes at Home

March 16th

Today it feels like Spring, the weather is simply amazing and it feels warmer all around. The sunlight is almost blinding as it pushes in through all windows into the house, where the white furniture, walls and mosaic bathroom just intensifies in brightness. The balcony door is finally open for longer periods of time and the linen curtains flow with the breeze and I think I’ve heard over a few dozen seagulls screech across the sky and it is just past lunch time.

My current spring essentials are delicate teacups preferably with golden details, pots of fresh herbs in the kitchen, vintage perfume bottles that I bring back from holidays primarily from southern france, Emma S. “Paris in spring” body spray, large roses in circular vases, avocados and perfectly boiled 7 minute eggs for breakfast.

I’m also loving healthy spring inspired green lunches from soups to salads. Below I’ve shared a few of my current favourite recipes; a warm bean salad with a green dressing and a coconut flavoured leafy broccoli soup.

Warm Haricot bean Salad

  • Haricot beans
  • Baby Spinach leaves
  • Dill
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Toasted pecan nuts
  • 1 Zucchini (made into Ribbons)
  • Salt/pepper

Green Dressing: 1 red onion, 1 cup basil, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 avocado, 1 juice of lime, 1/2 cup greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons olive oil, salt/pepper ( Mix all the ingredients in a blender)

Directions: Make zucchini ribbons and chop the ends of the haricot beans. In a medium hot pan add in butter and place in the chopped garlic cloves. Add in the beans, zucchini ribbons and spinach. Stir around until cooked, add in salt and pepper. Ready to plate: Garnish with lots of dill, toasted pecan nuts and the green dressing.

Green Goddess Soup

  • 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves
  • 100g kale, 100g spinach
  • 300g broccoli
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 3cups chicken stock
  • salt/pepper/coconut oil/ cumin

In a medium heated sauce pan, add in the coconut oil, garlic, onion and cumin and let them cook for a couple of minutes. Add in the chopped broccoli, kale, spinach and toss around for a few min. Add in the stock and let it simmer gently with the lid on for about 15 minutes. Once the broccoli is cooked, blend it to a smooth consistency. Bring it back onto the stove and add the coconut milk and simmer for 10 min. Meanwhile, toast some almond flakes, more pan wilted spinach with garlic/butter.

Kitchen Talk.

Now it feels complete.

As I sip on my morning tea and look around my kitchen, it feels as if it has a new zen to it, it feels complete for the first time. The newly white linen curtains bind the entire room together making it cozy, peaceful and extremely soothing to the eye.  It feels harmonies and soft, a place where you want to start the day. Both curtain sides have double layers that are extra long elongating the room hight making the style also more relaxed and modern. Curtains do so much to a space, you don’t realize it until they are in place. They are the one element in a room that can connect the tangible together to create that desired feeling and atmosphere.

Meanwhile on the other side of the kitchen is a new cabinet, that is light and airy because it has glass on all its sides while the measurements fit perfectly against the wall. It has a bit of beach house/ Scandinavian country vibe to it because of the planks on the back wall, that gives it all the character and style. I just love it and I finally have more space for my kitchen items! The tones in the cabinet are in line of calm shades of white and greyish blue that are combined with a couple of interior pieces to connect with the living room. It holds my favourite tine k. Moroccan style bowls, heavy positano plates, white books, a diptyque candle and some of my favourite crystal glasses. The bottom drawer is reserved for linen and I managed to sneak in my favourite chanel perfume sketch print on the top shelf. Now the kitchen has a balanced offset, to me it feels whole and by far is my favourite place at home.

Spring Home

‘Touches of Spring’

Friday. A major spring cleaning session has been complete, the house is spotless and the brightness is beaming inside from all the windows. Even though it is cold and quite gray outside, I live on the top floor so it is naturally much lighter up here. The sun reflects from all the white surfaces creating a tranquil calm space, that I call home.

Yesterday, Mr. N had planned a date night and surprised me with lots of white tulips and a delicious three course dinner. We spent the evening in the kitchen, enjoyed great conversation while I was sipping on a glass of dry white wine, he was cooking away. I was certainly inspired by the food we ate and will be sharing some of the recipes soon!  He also bought me tones of coconuts that I have been nibbling on all morning! Too delicious!

Green = Spring. I’m loving the spots of green amongst all the soft tones, especially my mini herb garden in the kitchen. At the moment, I have oregano, rosemary, thyme, flat leaf parsley, kale, basil and lemon balm. I use fresh herbs in almost all my cooking, I think it adds so much to the food and presentation. As the months begin getting warmer, I will transfer my balcony into an Italian corner filled with herbs, lavender, vegetables and small olive trees! I love the feeling at my house, I think it has a balanced mix of old and new elements. There is a definite city feel to it with modern clean surfaces, but the character builds from old pieces inspired by the rustic Scandinavian country. I also have orchids scattered all over the appartement, which adds a harmonic touch and a feeling of zen. The only thing that is missing from the living room is the white carpet, as it is momentarily drying as it’s been washed. I hope everybody has a wonderful cozy weekend filled with smiles and great moments. xxx

Morning Bliss with a splash of figs in an oversized silk shirt

The morning sun shines straight into our bedroom lighting up the already white space creating a room full of life. The bedroom is one of my favourite rooms in the house, its clean and modern with eleven built-in closets that have high gloss white doors. The morning sun reflects beautifully off the closets making it easy to wake up in the mornings…well at least for me because I am a morning person to begin with! From the bedroom you can also reach a large mosaic bathroom that you can get a small glimpse from here. I’m planning on making a post on it someday! Anyways, I had a slow morning well spent in bed with a glass of yogurt that had chia, almonds and lots of fig in it… nutritious and delicious! I’ve also kept to my morning workouts and I’m feeling great about this new found energy I’m getting from the gym again.

Lazy Sunday

Good Morning lovely readers

The holidays are all about spending time in your pj’s and relaxing with your loved ones. We’ve watched so many Christmas movies and spent time lounging on the sofa, it feels good to have no plans. Mr. N is still sleeping, I’ve already been out for a long walk with the dog and at the moment I’m enjoying a moment to myself in my favourite woolen socks. I’ve had a bit of a spa day at home this morning; face mask, nails etc and now enjoying a healthy breakfast of natural yogurt and all kinds of berries. I’m finding inspiration from this nordic interior book and feel like I need to buy new orchids for the house asap! Have a wonderful Sunday everyone xxx
